This is to advertise a postdoc (initially 2 years, extendable to 3+ years) in dynamical systems as part of a small centre.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will undertake research within a five-year Laureate Fellow project funded by the Australian Research Council and UNSW Sydney. The project seeks to advance the analysis of dynamical systems through the development of novel techniques in functional analysis, operator theory, ergodic theory, differential geometry, and/or data science. Specific topics of focus include, but are not limited to, linear response, random and nonautonomous dynamical systems, spectral analysis, machine learning, data-driven dynamics, stability/perturbation theory/rigorous numerics. Possible applications of the new theory include the analysis of spatiotemporal data arising from weather and climate observations/models and from models of social dynamics. Motivating aims include the discovery and analysis of hidden large-scale patterns in data/models, elucidating mechanisms underlying the emergence of these large-scale phenomena and their response to perturbations, and devising reliable automatic schemes for predicting this emergence and quantifying their response.

The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Mathematics with specialization in Mathematical Analysis, meant in a broad sense, including not only central areas of analysis, but also areas of mathematics where analysis is a dominating characteristic. Examples of the latter include subareas of dynamical systems, geometry, mathematical physics, partial differential equations, probability theory and number theory.

As for the duties of the position, the majority of time will be spent on research, with the goal that the assistant professor become established as an independent researcher within the international research community. Teaching at the basic, advanced and doctoral level includes courses in mathematics as well as supervision of degree projects and doctoral students. Some administrative duties may also be included. The assistant professor is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within four years. If needed, a language support plan will be devised at the time of employment.

The Mathematics Department at King’s College London is currently recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work with Dr. Matteo Tanzi on the EPSRC-funded project: “Strongly Coupled Maps: Thermodynamic Limits and Rates of Convergence.”

The Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London (UK) is inviting applications for a Research Associate position funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) grant “Predicting Critical Transitions in Complex Dynamical Networks: Reduction and Learning.”

The successful candidate will work closely with Professors Jeroen S.W. Lamb, Sebastian van Strien and Dmitry Turaev from the Dynamical Systems group in the Department of Mathematics of Imperial College, on aspects of the grant. The research concerns a collaboration with King’s College London (Dr Matteo Tanzi) and the University of Sao Paulo (Professors Tiago Pereira and Edson de Faria, and Dr Thomas Peron).

The Geometry and Mathematical Physics group of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Loughborough University (UK) is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. This role is part of an EPSRC-funded project by Dr. Mats Vermeeren focusing on Lagrangian multiform theory, with the objective of applying concepts from this theory, initially developed in the context of classical integrable systems, to other areas of modern mathematical physics.
