Two-year postdoc at UNSW Sydney

The School of Mathematics and Statistics at UNSW Sydney advertises a two-year postdoctoral position.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will undertake research within a 3+ year Australian Research Council Discovery Project at UNSW Sydney. The project seeks to advance the field of extreme value theory for random dynamical systems through the development of novel techniques in functional analysis, operator theory, and ergodic theory. Applications of the new theory will include the analysis of nonstationary spatiotemporal data arising from weather and climate observations/models.

Deadline for the application: 12 January 2026, midday, UK time

Please note that while UK students are given priority for the advertised studentships, they are open to any student meeting the academic criteria. It is recommended (but not a requirement) that prospective applicants get in contact with Tanja Schindler before applying.

Postdoc opportunity in dynamical systems at UNSW Sydney

 [expired]

This is to advertise a postdoc (initially 2 years, extendable to 3+ years) in dynamical systems as part of a small centre.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will undertake research within a five-year Laureate Fellow project funded by the Australian Research Council and UNSW Sydney. The project seeks to advance the analysis of dynamical systems through the development of novel techniques in functional analysis, operator theory, ergodic theory, differential geometry, and/or data science. Specific topics of focus include, but are not limited to, linear response, random and nonautonomous dynamical systems, spectral analysis, machine learning, data-driven dynamics, stability/perturbation theory/rigorous numerics. Possible applications of the new theory include the analysis of spatiotemporal data arising from weather and climate observations/models and from models of social dynamics. Motivating aims include the discovery and analysis of hidden large-scale patterns in data/models, elucidating mechanisms underlying the emergence of these large-scale phenomena and their response to perturbations, and devising reliable automatic schemes for predicting this emergence and quantifying their response.

Tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Mathematical Analysis and/or Probability at Rome Tor Vergata

 [expired]

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Rome Tor Vergata invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematical Analysis and/or Probability at the level of assistant professor (“Ricercatore tenure track”).

This tenure-track position offers a unique opportunity to join one of Italy’s leading Mathematics Departments, with a globally recognized reputation for research. The Department is consistently ranked among the top in Italy (ANVUR report) and is within the top 150 Departments of Mathematics worldwide in the ARWU ranking.

Assistant Professor in Mathematics at KTH Stockholm

 [expired]

The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Mathematics with specialization in Mathematical Analysis, meant in a broad sense, including not only central areas of analysis, but also areas of mathematics where analysis is a dominating characteristic. Examples of the latter include subareas of dynamical systems, geometry, mathematical physics, partial differential equations, probability theory and number theory.

As for the duties of the position, the majority of time will be spent on research, with the goal that the assistant professor become established as an independent researcher within the international research community. Teaching at the basic, advanced and doctoral level includes courses in mathematics as well as supervision of degree projects and doctoral students. Some administrative duties may also be included. The assistant professor is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within four years. If needed, a language support plan will be devised at the time of employment.
